Hope Haven Ukraine is a non-profit, 501c3, day school for children with disabilities living in southern Ukraine. Hope Haven officially opened it doors September 1, 2011 with 15 students and a staff consisting of 2 teachers, 2 therapists, art/music instructors and a bus driver. The school has a capacity of 50 students.
The children, ages 3-20 attend school year round and receive special education and therapies. It is the dream of the founder that the school will eventually have resident animals (horses, sheep, cats, dogs) for the children to care for and use for therapy. The school has an indoor play area so that the children will have exercise year round.
The parents of the children are expected to help with the tuition and other needs of the school. American sponsorships help with meeting the total monthly costs. Special needs children in Ukraine are not permitted to attend public school and thus Hope Haven Ukraine is the first of its kind in this region.
All furnishings and therapy equipment were donated by generous Americans and shipped to Ukraine along with a lift-equipped school bus to transport the children to and from school each day. The daily cost of this school bus necessity is $30.00 for gasoline. The children would not be able to attend without this provided transportation.
We are currently looking for American sponsors to help with the monthly costs. Tuition total is $100.00/month and the families are able to meet $40.00 of this total each month. Please take a look at the gallery of students and see where your donation will be used. All gifts are tax deductible.
